Will former Penn State football QB Beau Pribula be back in Big Ten?

Central York grad and former Penn State football quarterback Beau Pribula is searching for another college football home.

Could he possibly end up back in the Big Ten?

The redshirt junior quarterback, who has one season of college eligibility remaining, has reportedly visited Nebraska and Washington this week as he seeks an NCAA transfer portal move for the second straight winter. He was in Seattle Wednesday after the Huskies lost their own star QB, Demond Williams, to the portal, according to CBS Sports and others.

Pribula also has expressed interest in Georgia Tech, Stanford and Virginia Tech with former head coach, James Franklin, according to national reports. He had spent the past year leading Missouri to success in the SEC, despite a late-season lower-leg injury.

Pribula does not appear to be considering a return to Penn State, where he spent his first three seasons in college. New Nittany Lion head coach Matt Campbell has already brought in his two top former quarterbacks from Iowa State − three-year starter Rocco Becht and redshirt freshman Alex Manske.

This comes as part of Penn State’s unprecedented transfer portal churn, including losing all three of their remaining 2025 scholarship quarterbacks.

Pribula is the No. 15-ranked quarterback in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. Former PSU QB Ethan Grunkemeyer, who’s reportedly joining Franklin at Virginia Tech, is No. 12 in the rankings.

Becht, meanwhile, is ninth-ranked transfer portal QB.

It’s been a rollercoaster college career for Pribula, who grew up a diehard Penn State football fan in York County. He spent three years in State College, seeing significant playing time his last two as the backup to Drew Allar.

He transferred from Penn State to Missouri in December of 2024 and promptly led the Tigers to a nationally-ranked 5-0 start. He completed 67.4 percent of his passes for 1,941 yards, throwing 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also ran for 297 yards and six scores.

Pribula did miss a couple of games in the second half of the season with that leg injury.

Pribula was impressive as a PSU backup, particularly as a dual-threat runner. He led victories in place of an injured Allar against Rutgers in 2023 and at Wisconsin in 2024. He rushed for 242 yards and five touchdowns as a Penn State redshirt sophomore in 2024.

Franklin said this about Pribula a year ago, immediately after he decided to transfer away:

“I can give you my word: Beau Pribula did not want to leave our program, and he did not want to leave our program until the end of the season. But the way the portal is, and the timing of it, and the way our team is playing, and when you play the position of quarterback and there’s only one spot, and those spots are filling up …

“He felt like he was put in a no-win situation. And I agree with him.”
