Former Colorado Buffalo London Merritt has officially found a new home after entering the transfer portal on December 31, 2025. The freshman edge rusher is headed to Clemson.

Merritt arrived in Boulder as a four-star recruit with 39 offers out of high school. His recruitment narrowed to North Carolina, Ohio State and Colorado, with Merritt ultimately choosing Colorado. Expectations were high, but 2025 did not go according to plan for Colorado and Deion Sanders: a disappointing season led Merritt to explore his options and enter the portal in late December.

Clemson makes plenty of sense as a landing spot for the rising sophomore. He steps into a unique defensive line room at Clemson, filled with experienced upperclassmen, giving him a chance to continue developing while contributing early.

Merritt finished his first season with 25 tackles and a sack and earned a spot on PFF’s All-Freshman team. His departure stings many Colorado fans, as he was viewed as a promising young player and a potential building block for the defense’s future.

Now, Merritt moves on to Clemson as Sanders and his staff work to replace nearly an entire defense. Progress has been made, but the job is far from finished as the Buffs continue grinding to ensure a season like 2025 does not repeat itself in Boulder.
