In a preview of No. 20 Iowa football’s (6-2, 4-1 Big Ten) clash against No. 6 Oregon (7-1, 4-1 Big Ten) from Kinnick Stadium, CBS Sports’ analyst Brian Jones picked the Hawkeyes to upset the Ducks on Saturday, which would go down as a statement win for the program.
As part of his breakdown, Jones pointed to Iowa’s hard-nosed physicality at the line of scrimmage, which could ultimately be a deciding factor in the game.
“This is going to be one of those snot-bubble games.
“It’s going to be about the trenches and taking on blockers forcefully and squarely, not taking a side, because this offense for Iowa, they will open you up, man. They are so physical on both sides of the ball, and both of these teams play a lot of guys defensively. A nice rotation so they stay fresh,” Jones said.

After praising the Hawkeyes’ strength on the offensive and defensive lines, Jones proudly proclaimed that Iowa would come out victorious, citing Kirk Ferentz’s stellar record against AP top-10 programs in November, the team’s upward trajectory, and its recent style of play.
“I’m going to take Iowa. Kirk Ferentz is 5-1 all-time in November versus AP top-10 teams. I think they can get this done, especially the way they’re trending upward. They are playing some fabulous football right now, and it is a complete football team, not just the offense,” Jones said.
“Who knew Gronowski had this skill, this dual threat skill? Where’d that come from?”
Iowa-Oregon is officially another Hawkeye sellout. The game is set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT from Kinnick Stadium and will be broadcast on CBS with play-by-play voice Brad Nessler, analyst Gary Danielson, and sideline reporter Jenny Dell on the call.
