GLENDALE, AZ — Ole Miss football has gotten one of its best players back for the Fiesta Bowl.
Running back Kewan Lacy may have a hamstring injury, according to the ESPN broadcast. He was seen on the sideline bike after running for a 73-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter.
Lacy appeared to slow down as he neared the end zone on the long run. It was an excellent play in an otherwise subpar performance from the Ole Miss offense in the first half. He returned after halftime, spelling backup Logan Diggs.
The No. 6 Rebels (13-1) are facing the No. 10 Hurricanes (12-2) in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff (6:30 p.m., ESPN) on Jan. 8. The game is in the second half at State Farm Stadium.
"They are looking at him so we will figure it out at halftime," Ole Miss coach Pete Golding said about Lacy at halftime on the ESPN broadcast.
Kewan Lacy stats
It would be a major blow for the Rebels to lose Lacy. He was a Doak Walker award finalist this season, which is given out to the most outstanding running back in the nation.
Lacy entered the Fiesta Bowl with 1,464 rushing yards and a program-record 23 touchdowns. He is also an excellent pass-blocking running back.
Lacy, a sophomore who transferred in from Missouri before the season, has already committed to returning to Ole Miss for the 2026 season.
