Former Texas A&M QB commit has entered the transfer portal

Texas A&M’s 2026 quarterback room might, or might not be finished after incoming redshirt junior Marcel Reed re-signed with the program earlier this month, and will return as the starter for the second consecutive season. However, the players behind him is whole other question, as sophomore QB Miles O’Neill transferred to North Carolina this week.

Right now, incoming freshman Helaman Casuga, incoming sophomore Brady Hart, and freshman Eli Morcos are the only names in the room at this point, and while the coaching staff is reportedly high on Hart’s potential, paired with Casuga’s intriguing skill set, these are two young players who may not be ready to potentially start games if called upon.

Depth at quarterback is everything in today’s college football landscape, and while Marcel Reed stayed healthy for all 13 games this season, nothing is guaranteed moving forward. Plenty of intriguing names are in the transfer portal, including former recruiting target and Oregon quarterback Austin Novosad, while a former Texas A&M commit has officially entered the portal.

Freshman USC quarterback Husan Longstreet, who was committed to the Aggies before choosing the Trojans, served as the primary backup during the 2025 season, appearing in four games and throwing for 103 yards and one touchdown, paired with 76 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

After USC starting quarterback Jayden Maiava re-signed with the Trojans, Longstreet is likely looking for an immediate starting opportunity, not looking to sit for another year. However, one more year as the No. 2 option could be beneficial, and sitting behind Marcel Reed for one season would also help his development.

Should the Aggies kick the tires on Husan Longstreet? Yes, but he will have plenty of suitors, and, as I stated above, is likely eyeing an opportunity to start next season.
