FSU football transfer portal: Former Auburn LT Xavier Chaplin joins

Florida State football added another big piece to its offensive line Friday, securing a commitment from former Auburn left tackle Xavier Chaplin after his campus visit.

Chaplin, who chose the Seminoles over Kentucky, becomes the fourth offensive lineman to commit to FSU this cycle. The 6-foot-7, 348-pound tackle started every game for Auburn last season, logging 823 snaps.

He earned a 56.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, including a 71.1 in pass blocking and 56.1 in run blocking. Despite drawing penalties, Chaplin allowed just three sacks, three quarterback hits and 17 pressures.

Chaplin played with quarterback Ashton Daniels, who committed to FSU earlier this week, and briefly with Bradyn Joiner.

Before transferring to Auburn, Chaplin spent three seasons at Virginia Tech, where he earned All-ACC honors and third-team All-American. He entered the portal after one season with the Tigers.

Chaplin is ranked No. 7 among offensive tackles and No. 67 overall in the transfer portal by 247Sports.
