Notre Dame had its first transfer commit, then didn’t 45-minutes later

It has been a very weird transfer portal window for Notre Dame football, and the oddness continued on Friday afternoon.
Colorado defensive back DJ McKinney committed to the Irish, but shortly after that announcement was made, multiple sources reported that the verbal has been rescinded. At this moment, there is not much more information out on what transpired between the Irish and McKinney, but something clearly happened.
The portal has been open a week, and Notre Dame is still waiting on its first addition. There is still another week remaining for players to enter, so more options will emerge. You have to assume that the Irish will make stronger pushes for players during the second half of the window.
Hard to say what comes next, but Notre Dame will continue to host players as they try to find the right fit for the program.
DJ McKinney’s signed status with Notre Dame has been rescinded, @mzenitz and I have learned. https://t.co/vEZfCjlHpB
