LSU football has signed former Illinois wide receiver Malik Elzy. Elzy spent three seasons with the Fighting Illini, totaling 16 catches for 213 yards and two touchdowns in 23 career appearances. He left the team in September to redshirt the 2025 season.

Elzy was On3 Sports’ 77th-ranked wide receiver in the class, and the 508th overall player. He was a four-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class. Lane Kiffin and LSU’s offensive staff clearly believe Elzy has talent he was unable to tap into during his time with Illinois, given his poor production with the team.

Elzy is the Tigers’ fifth wide receiver commitment in this year’s portal class, according to 247Sports. The other receivers who have made their way to Baton Rouge during this portal window include: Eugene Wilson III (Florida), Jayce Brown (Kansas State), Tre’ Brown III (Old Dominion), and Jackson Harris (Hawaii).

The Tigers needed to add several receivers in this portal class to fill both starting spots and add depth. Now it’s time to address the quarterback position and make additional signings along the offensive line.
