Before former Iowa football safety and defensive captain Koen Entringer revealed his decision to join Louisville, Entringer took to social media to say thank you to the Hawkeyes and to Iowa football.
“I want to sincerely thank the University of Iowa, the coaching staff, the support staff, my teammates, and the Hawkeye fans for the opportunity to represent this program. Wearing the Black and Gold and running out of the tunnel at Kinnick Stadium is something I will cherish forever.
“The relationships built, lessons learned, and memories made over the past four years have shaped me not only as a football player, but as a man. I am forever grateful for the people who poured into me, believed in me, and pushed me to be better every single day…
“Forever thankful. Forever a Hawkeye,” Entringer wrote.
Entringer, who spent four seasons with the Hawkeyes, including a redshirt year, played in 43 games and started 14 over the past two seasons with Iowa. During his time with the black and gold, Entringer recorded 100 tackles, five pass breakups, 3.5 tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Entringer went through Senior Day festivities ahead of Iowa’s date against Michigan State in 2025, but the 6-foot-1, 211-pound defensive back said during Iowa’s bowl prep that he intended to return to the Hawkeyes in 2026.
A native of Ypsilanti, Mich., Entringer will have one season of eligibility remaining at Louisville.
The Hawkeyes have moved quickly to fill his departure. Iowa has landed transfer portal commitments from Villanova safety Anthony Hawkins and James Madison safety Tyler Brown.
