MADISON – Indiana tried. So did Notre Dame and Iowa State. Kansas had its hat in the ring, too.

When it came to Korz Loken’s recruitment, the Wisconsin football program boxed them all out.

The four-star tight end from Iola-Scandinavia High School announced his commitment to the Badgers during halftime of the national broadcast of the Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

He is the second Badger recruit for the 2027 class. Verona offensive lineman Ethan McIntosh committed to the Badgers in November.

To get him, Wisconsin not only beat the aforementioned programs, but at least 13 other schools that offered. That list included Auburn, Minnesota, Illinois and Florida State.

Why Wisconsin?

“I’ve been to plenty of games,” Loken said on the broadcast. “I’ve been down there a ton. It’s home. You know when you know. I’m a Badger.”

Loken is rated as the No. 4 tight end nationally in the class by 247sports and the 118th player overall. Rivals ranks him as the No. 8 player at his position and 147th-best player in his class.

Both sites consider Loken as the No. 1 player in Wisconsin for the 2027 class.

Loken, who is 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, played in just two games in 2025 due to a wrist injury. He caught 28 passes for 425 yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore. He also plays basketball and competes in track and field.

Loken is part of a 2027 class in the state that Wisconsin has pursued heavily. Among the targets are Germantown offensive lineman Cole Reiter, Catholic Memorial edge rusher Issac Miller and Green Bay Notre Dame running back Kingston Allen.

All those players have offers from Wisconsin. Loken announced his offer March 16 and from that point UW was the team to beat.

“The second I got my offer I just (thought) ‘Wow, I can be one of those guys that I’ve been watching for 12 years,” he said. “That’s what I want to be.”
