Ohio State losing yet another player to the transfer portal

With six days left until the transfer portal closes, the Ohio State football team has already watched 27 players enter the portal… Check that, make it 28. Freshman safety Faheem Delane has announced that he, too, will be entering the portal in search of a new home to play his college ball.

Delane came to OSU as a highly touted prospect from Olney, Maryland. He was a top-100 recruit and the No. 8-ranked safety in the 2025 class according to 247Sports. Delane appeared in five games this season, tallying 12 total tackles, although the last game he appeared in was against Rutgers on November 22. Sophomore Leroy Roker may have passed Delane, as it was Roker, not Delane, who saw action against Miami in the Cotton Bowl. The true freshman will have three years of eligibility left.

Still, something seems off. Is there a money shortage? Is Matt Patricia leaving? Maybe Ryan Day? It is unusual for a team of Ohio State's caliber, especially with the recent success, to be experiencing this kind of turnover. One thing is for sure: January 16 can't get here fast enough for Buckeye Nation.
