AUBURN — Deuce Knight will face his former team in 2026, as the former Auburn football quarterback announced Sunday, Jan. 11, he was transferring to Ole Miss.

Knight was among the headliners of Auburn‘s 30-plus players to enter the transfer portal this offseason, and he’s among six players set to square off with the Tigers in 2026, including Malik Blocton and Eric Singleton Jr., among others.

Knight was lauded, by both former head coach Hugh Freeze and interim head coach DJ Durkin, as not only a talent but someone who could be the program’s future under center. A former Notre Dame commit, Knight chose Auburn from a list of more than two dozen offers, which included 18 Power 4 programs and eight SEC schools. Knight was the highest-rated signee in Auburn’s 2025 class, and he was the 15th-highest-rated signee in program history.

However, Knight’s freshman season was rather quiet. That was expectedly so at the start, as Freeze brought in Jackson Arnold, also a former five-star prospect, to helm Auburn’s offense. Arnold was eventually benched partway through SEC play, but Freeze turned to Ashton Daniels, in a switch that didn’t save the coach’s job.

After Daniels started games against Kentucky and Vanderbilt, Durkin opted to sit him for Auburn’s late-season matchup against FCS Mercer, in an effort to preserve his redshirt. Knight started in his place and finished with 401 yards of total offense and six total touchdowns.
