Jaime Ffrench Jr., Texas WR, to join Michigan from transfer portal

Michigan football‘s receiver room just got a much needed boost.

Jaime Ffrench Jr., a former four-star receiver who just finished his freshman season at Texas, has committed to join Michigan football, a person with knowledge of the situation but not permitted to speak publicly on the matter confirmed to the Free Press on Sunday, Jan. 11.

Ffrench played in three games for the Longhorns in 2025, recording one catch for 6 yards. Despite not factoring into Texas’ games this season, there’s reason to believe this addition could pay off.

Ffrench, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound product from Jacksonville, Florida (Mandarin High School), was the No. 6 player in the state of Florida, the No. 9 receiver in the nation and the No. 44 overall player in the class of 2025, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.

He was highly sought after coming out of high school − he had 97 receptions for 1,868 yards and 16 touchdowns in his two upperclassmen seasons − holding offers from LSU, Miami, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio State and Alabama among others.

Ffrench posted on social media earlier in the weekend that he was in Ann Arbor on an official visit and the Wolverines were able to lock him down before any other bidders could get a chance to increase their offers.

He now figures to be the No. 2 wideout in the room behind Andrew Marsh, who has not publicly declared a return to Ann Arbor but a person with knowledge of his situation told the Free Press a new deal with U-M has been reached.

Ffrench is another key target for returning quarterback Bryce Underwood as Michigan looks for its pass game to take a step forward in 2026.
