Mere minutes after news broke that the Oregon Ducks had reeled in the commitment of former Penn State tight end Andrew Olesh, who was a five-star in the class of 2025, Oregon true freshman tight end Vander Ploog has announced his intentions of entering the transfer portal. On3 Sports was the first to report the news.

The 6-foot-6, 242-pound Ploog was rated as a four-star and the No. 13 tight end and No. 244 player overall in the 2025 class, per 247 Sports.

Ploog didn’t catch a pass during his lone season in Eugene, as he was buried on the depth chart behind several veterans and accomplished tight ends. He utilized a redshirt in 2025.

The timing of Ploog’s portal announcement likely suggests that Olesh’s commitment to the Ducks certainly had something to do with it, as the former Nittany Lion was the No. 3 tight end in the 2025 class.

Oregon flipped Ploog in Nov. of 2024, as he’d previously been committed to the Washington Huskies.

The Fullerton, CA, native joins a number of offensive players who have entered the portal, most notably running back Makhi Hughes and wide receiver Kyler Kasper.

Ploog will have four years of eligiblity after redshirting in 2025.
