Former Clemson Football DB Ricardo Jones commits to SEC powerhouse

A former Clemson football star is headed to an SEC powerhouse.Safety, Ricardo Jones, who has spent the last year with the Tigers opted to enter the portal after the Pinstripe Bowl joining fellow safety Khalil Barnes, committed to Clark Lea and the Vanderbilt Commodores Sunday night. 

The sophomore committed to Clemson from Peach County High School in Fort Valley, Georgia, in the 2024 recruiting class. 

He was Third-team All-ACC selection by the league and by Phil Steele, earned second-team All-ACC status from the AP, credited by the coaching staff with 46 tackles (one for loss) with six interceptions (including one pick-six), five pass breakup and a fumble recovery in 716 defensive snaps over 13 games (12 starts).He was tied for the ACC lead with six interceptions

His six interceptions were the most by a Clemson player since DeAndre McDaniel’s school-record-tying eight interceptions in 2009. 

Jones joins Clemson’s redshirt offensive lineman Rowan Byrne who committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday. He played two snaps for the Tigers as a redshirt this past season, both coming in the team’s 45-10 win over Furman on Nov. 23. Byrne was rated a four-star recruit by Rivals and a three-star recruit by 247Sports and On3.
