The Colorado Buffaloes enter a pivotal season under coach Deion Sanders in 2026.
Sanders' hiring ahead of the 2023 season brought quite a media spectacle with it. After a disappointing first season, the Buffs won nine games during a 2024 campaign that also delivered a Heisman winner. However, they regressed to 3-9 last season after Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter moved on to the NFL, and the pressure is on to get back on track in 2026.
Deion Sanders Jr., who produces unofficial, behind-the-scenes media for Colorado football, is feeling that pressure. In a vlog posted on Monday, Sanders Jr. put the stakes this fall bluntly while talking to director of player personnel Darius Darden-Box.
“We had 10 people here on campus… Some good families, a lot of Florida cats. We got five guys committed from the state of Florida. I’m trying to make (Deion Sanders) proud with that. I know he wants to make that change. We counted in January. ‘It wasn’t enough,’ he said. So, we are trying to hit that state hard,” Darden-Box said.
“Well, I appreciate you, man, because we gotta win," Sanders responded. "Or I’mma be out of a job.”
There's been a lot of change this offseason at Colorado, with new coordinators on both sides of the ball. New offensive coordinator Brennan Marion will turn to former five-star Julian Lewis to run his "go-go" offense, and Sanders and Co. will hope that helps lead to a much-needed turnaround this fall.
