2026 college football top 25 strength of schedule rankings

2026 will be the third season with a 12-team College Football Playoff.

The first round will be contested Dec. 18-19 on campus sites. Quarterfinals are scheduled for Dec. 30 and Jan. 1, 2027 with the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic and Rose Bowl Game Presented by Prudential.

The Capital One Orange Bowl on Jan. 14, 2027 and the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 15, 2027 will be the College Football Playoffs semifinals.

A national championship game will be contested Jan. 25, 2027 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ahead of the season kicking off Aug. 29 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland between North Carolina against TCU, ESPN released its College Football Power Index strength of schedule rankings.

Tennessee is ranked No. 14 nationally for strength of schedule. Below are the top 25 Football Bowl Subdivision schools ranked based on strength of schedule for the 2026 season.
