Michigan lost one of its top ranked players in the 2026 class, as four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson has flipped from the Wolverines to Stanford on Thursday during the early signing period.
Robinson had been committed since June after taking official visits to Michigan, Stanford, Miami and Nebraska. Other schools like TCU (where his father went to school), SMU and Texas Tech were also involved before he chose the Wolverines.
It’s unclear what exactly happened here, but he did post on his Instagram story on Wednesday that he was delaying signing his letter of intent “until further notice.” The language he used made is sound ominous and like he was listening to the NIL overtures of other programs. That proved to be the case, as he flipped away at the last second to the Cardinal and will not end up in Ann Arbor.
Thankfully, Michigan still has two prospects at the position in the 2026 class in four-star Travis Johnson and three-star Jaylen Pile. If the Wolverines are dead set on having a three-man class, they could always see if in-state four-star Samson Gash is interested. He is “committed” to Michigan State, but after the firing of Jonathan Smith, he announced he would delay signing with any school and that he is keeping all options open.
The Wolverines also been in discussions with four-star Georgia commit Brady Marchese, and even received some predictions from Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong and other experts to end up landing Marchese. He is expected to sign with either Georgia or Michigan at 3 p.m., so we’ll have to wait and see if that works out for the Wolverines.
