Welcome to the 2026 Heisman Poll Week Five.  Alabama’s Keelon Russell has entered the poll after a big win over Mississippi State.  The same game also saw poll favorite Kamario Taylor get injured. We are getting deeper into the season, and the stakes keep climbing. To see all the movement from last week, check out the Week Four poll.  Again, a reminder that the Poll is weighted. The player gets five points for every first-place vote, four points for every second-place vote, three points for every third-place vote, and so on. Let’s get to it: our Week Four Heisman Poll.

2026 Heisman Poll Week Five

#5 Kamario Taylor, Quarterback, Mississippi State

Last weekend, Kamario Taylor left the game in the fourth quarter during the Bulldogs’ 56-23 loss to Alabama. He had a boot on his right foot for the rest of the game. Mississippi State gets a week off before heading to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers.  Taylor has 1,450 yards and 17 touchdowns this season. Hopefully, the weekend off will give him a chance to get healthy and continue his Heisman run.
  • Next game: at LSU, Saturday, October 17th, 11:00 am CST

#4 Keelon Russell, Quarterback, Alabama

Keelon Russell is making his debut on the Heisman poll.  His coach, Kalen DeBoer, is describing his sophomore quarterback as “calm, cool, and consistent.” Russell completed 16-of-22 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s 56-23 win over Mississippi State.  This week Russell and the Crimson Tide will host Georgia. Both teams are 5-0.  Georgia is ranked #2, and Alabama is #6. Tropical Storm Isaias looks to be making an appearance in Tuscaloosa this weekend. This game could get really messy.

#3 Trinidad Chambliss, Quarterback, Ole Miss

Trinidad Chambliss has 1,222 yards and eight touchdowns this season.  Coming off the bye week, Ole Miss will travel to Vanderbilt to take on the Commodores.  Chambliss is fast on his feet and officially has 108 rushing yards on 28 attempts, and he has seven runs of 10-plus yards and 12 rushing first downs.  The Ole Miss O-Line has only allowed four sacks this season. Vandy will have its hands full with Chambliss and the Rebels.

Next game: at Vanderbilt, Saturday, October 10th, 2:30 pm CST

#2  Darian Mensah, Quarterback, Miami

Darian Mensah  led Miami in a 41-13 drubbing of Clemson.  He currently has 1,438 yards, 15 touchdowns, and ZERO interceptions.  However, in the Clemson game, he threw nine incomplete passes, bringing his total to 12 in his first four games.  The bye week couldn’t have come at a better time.  Mensah can rest, regroup, and rest. Meanwhile, some of his teammates are coming back from injuries.  Miami will host Florida State after a much-needed week of rest.
  • Next game: vs. Florida State, Saturday, October 17th, 6:00 pm CST

#1  Jeremiah Smith, Wide Receiver, Ohio State

Jeremiah Smith and Mensah keep flip-flopping between one and two.  After Saturday’s win over Iowa, Smith kept building his legacy as Ohio State royalty. He now leads in receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns, and his pursuit of more records is still going.  His broken records so far this season. Receiving Touchdowns: Surpassed Chris Olave’s previous school record of 35. Receptions: Passed Emeka Egbuka’s previous record of 205. Receiving Yards: Broke Michael Jenkins’ previous mark of 2,898 yards.  In the season, he has 44 receptions for 823 yards and nine touchdowns.
This weekend, Smith and the Buckeyes host 2-3 Maryland.
  • Next game: vs. Maryland, Saturday, October 10th, 3:15 pm CST
