NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...

Welcome to the 2026 Heisman Poll Week Seven. The top three have remained unchanged. Numbers four and five have changed from last week. The Last Word on College Football writers have done it again with the weekly poll. To see all the movement from last week, check out the Week Six poll. Again, a reminder that the Poll is weighted. The player gets five points for every first-place vote, four points for every second-place vote, three points for every third-place vote, and so on. Let’s get to it: our Heisman Poll Week Seven.
2026 Heisman Poll Week Seven
#5 Jesse Legree, Wide Receiver, Oregon State
Jesse Legree is the Heisman hopeful who is getting lost in the shuffle. Legree has 1,040 receiving yards, 46 receptions, and 14 touchdowns. The current number one pick Jeremiah Smith has 984 yards, 52 receptions, and 12 touchdowns. Why is Legree at number five and Smith at number one? He plays in the Pac-12 and is being treated like he doesn’t even exist. Let’s be honest, most of his games start after everyone is in bed. So he’ll remain anonymous to the casual college football fan. Legree and Oregon State have a week to rest up before their road trip to Fresno State on Halloween.
- Next game: at Fresno State, Saturday, October 31st, 10:00 pm CST
#4 Bear Bachmeier, Quarterback, BYU
Bear Bachmeier bursts into the top five after an upset win over Notre Dame. In the game, he ran for two scores, caught a touchdown pass, and threw the game-winning touchdown pass. Number four seems like a good spot for a quarterback that can do it all. This season, he has amassed 1,257 passing yards, nine touchdowns, 49 carries for 284 yards, and six touchdowns. Apparently, Bear had some leftover beef with Notre Dame after undisclosed recruiting disrespect. So he was on a mission to win. Saturday, BYU will travel to Orlando to take on the Central Florida Knights.
Next game: at UCF, Saturday, October 24th, 2:30 pm CST
#3 Trinidad Chambliss, Quarterback, Ole Miss
Trinidad Chambliss led Ole Miss past Missouri 31-3, and Chambliss has added 241 passing yards and three touchdowns to his season totals. He now has 1,676 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions this season. The senior quarterback has now thrown a touchdown pass in 19 straight games. He has tied Matt Corral for the second-longest streak in program history. Chad Kelly’s school record of 22 games is now within reach. Chambliss also has 36 carries for 127 yards and six touchdowns. He and The Rebels will be traveling to Texas to take on the underwhelming Longhorns and former Heisman hopeful Arch Manning.
- Next game: at Texas, Saturday, October 24th, 6:30 pm CST
#2 Darian Mensah, Quarterback, Miami
Darian Mensah passed for 326 yards and three touchdowns as Miami beat their arch-rival Florida State in double overtime, 43-35. Mensah now has 1,764 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. He threw his first interception of the year against the Seminoles. Pitt will bring the nation’s top-ranked rushing defense to try to stop Mensah and the aggressive Miami offense. Pitt has dropped their last two games while Miami remains undefeated.
- Next game: vs. Pittsburgh, Saturday, October 24th, 11:00 pm CST
#1 Jeremiah Smith, Wide Receiver, Ohio State
Jeremiah Smith and Ohio State beat the defending National Champions, Indiana. His stats for the season are: 984 yards, 52 receptions, and 12 touchdowns. Yes, OSU had a huge win last weekend. But at what cost? Julian Sayin is out indefinitely and doubtful to return in the regular season. Smith’s Heisman odds dropped almost immediately after Sayin went down. Will a new quarterback derail Smith’s Heisman run?. Ohio State has a much-needed bye week. They will travel to the West Coast to take on USC on Halloween. Hopefully the game won’t be too scary.
- Next game: at USC, Saturday, October 31st, 6:30 pm CST
