On Wednesday, the Pac-12 released game specifics for the 2026 football season (as did the Mountain West, and we will run that post tomorrow). One of the perks of this media deal is knowing the exact dates, times, and channels for every conference game now, with no more flex options two weeks out, as was done previously. Plus, every conference game or non-con home game will be on linear TV. Every team released their specific schedule, but here are the tweets from the conference’s official account, as well as the official release:
CBS Sports/USA Sports/CW
A few observations about the games featured on each station:
- The overall breakdown is as follows: 3 games (plus the conference championship) on CBS/Paramount+, 12 games on CBS Sports, 13 games on the CW, and 22 games on USA.
- Looking at CBS and the network was able to fill those 3 games with non-conference home games against P4 teams, which works as well as anything. It would be nice if a conference game could get one of those spots down the line, but for now, BYU vs Colorado State, Texas Tech facing Oregon State, and Arizona going to play Washington State suffice for now.
- With CBS Sports, they are taking quite a few of the FCS or lower-level G6 non-con games, which may or may not mean much. As far as the conference slate, they average one game a week, although some weeks are two and some are none.
- USA Sports ventures into the college sports world looking to make the most of their 22 games. In addition to leading the charge in total games, they are carrying some weeks, with as many as three games a day. Otherwise, it’s mostly two a week, but at least one every week. Hopefully their announcers are up to the task.
- Glacing at the CW’s 13 games, they will take play during 10 different weeks between Week 2 and Week 12. Week 6 will have a double feature but that will be split up on a Friday and Saturday. The game start time are noteworthy, but that will be in a later bullet point.
- With no special Boise State deal, it looks like the teams are spread out pretty evenly. Oregon State appears to lead the way on USA games with 6, and the Broncos and Cougars each have 5. Utah State is featured the most on CBS Sports with 5 appearances, and no one else has more than 3. Over on the CW, Texas State checks in with 5 games, followed closely by Fresno State with 4.
- Be sure to keep your Saturdays clear, because the vast majority of Pac-12 games will be on Saturdays. Looking at the games produced in the media package, there are only two games that won’t be on a Saturday. Week 6 has the aforementioned Friday CW game between Utah State and Washington State. Then, Week 7 has a random Thursday contest with Colorado State and Texas State.
- Tired of late games? Don’t worry, during conference play, 13 game times start at 4:30pm Pacific or earlier. Want Pac-12 After Dark to be alive and well in this version? Never fear, 7 games begin at 7pm Pacific or later, ensuring that the late-night fix for college football fans across the nation will be there.
- And the CW looks like it will be home to Pac-12 After Dark, with 6 of those 7 late night games airing on this network.
- Finally, we know that Week 13 will the Flex week for the conference, with matchups to be determined based on the best interest of the league. It does not appear that there is any special week geared towards traditional rivalry matchups. Boise State and Fresno State play each other Week 10, with the Broncos and Aztecs squaring off Week 12, and the Bulldogs facing SDSU during 7. Also, Oregon State and Washington State are also Week 7, but with two teams on a bye week, it’s hardly an anticipated slate of heated rivalry games.
