Texas A&M’s No. 1-ranked 2027 class has won nearly every recruiting battle heading into the fall practice season, now including five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson, but after months of leading five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson’s recruitment, the No. 2-ranked CB committed to South Carolina after his official visit with the Gamecocks last weekend.

While Dobson is “100% committed” to South Carolina, he left the door open for Texas A&M and several other programs to continue pursuing him over the next four months before signing with a program in early December. Combined with fellow five-star cornerback John Meredith, who committed to Texas late last month, potentially flipping Dobson looks like the most realistic route.

Another 2027 defensive back prospect to keep an eye on is three-star Jaiden Fields, who could play safety or wide receiver at the next level, and is coming off four official visits with Texas A&M, SMU, TCU, and Oklahoma. Right now, the Sooners lead his recruitment, but given his elite versatility as a standout wide receiver and defensive back, Fields could play on either side of the ball.

On Thursday, it was revealed that Jaiden Fields will announce his commitment on Tuesday, July 7, choosing between Oklahoma, SMU, TCU, Stanford, and Texas A&M, which will be nationally broadcast on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s YouTube channel.

If he commits to Texas A&M, Fields’s elite speed and impressive production after reeling in 1,345 yards and 18 touchdowns last season would likely lead coach Mike Elko to make him a full-time wide receiver.
