With the success that the Oregon Ducks have had on the defensive line in 2025 and recent seasons before it, it’s not hard to see why recruits would want to play for head coach Dan Lanning.

Four-star defensive lineman Zane Rowe, who is the No. 12 edge and No. 90 player overall in the 2027 class per 247 Sports, has the Oregon in his final three schools as he nears a decision. Oklahoma and TCU, both closer to home for the Denton, TX, native, are the other two schools, per Rivals.

Rowe is set to visit Eugene on Jan. 24 and lauded the Ducks‘ connections to Nike as a big driver in his interest.

“It’s the business connections again,” he said. “They have the Nike umbrella with big corporations and Fortune 500 companies. I want to be a business entrepreneur and I love the connections there. They have big construction and oil companies on the West Coast.”

Furthermore, Rowe talked about the development that occurs at Oregon and the success that a fellow Texan has has had with the Ducks.

“They also have great development,” Rowe continued. “They have two DE going in the first round and another coming back for his senior year, so the depth chart is playing a big role. They’re recruiting my family and me, and came to visit me at school and showed my parents and me the plan. They showed their track record with Texas guys like Dakorien Moore. For them to come to DFW and then go play in Eugene, that’s the furthest you can go from Texas, so if you have success and thrive there, it’s a big deal to me.”

Though the two defensive ends that the 6-foot-4, 255-pound Rowe is referring to, Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti, are also returning for one more season in 2026, the depth behind them has been decimated by the transfer portal, potentially opening up early playing time opportunities by the time Rowe would arrive to campus.

Rowe expects to come to a final decision in his recruitment by the Feb. 14 weekend.
