2027 4-star Edge remains 'locked in' with Texas A&M despite LSU loss

Texas A&M's 35-6 road loss to LSU wasn't just embarrassing, but it continued to prove that the Aggies' 2026 roster either isn't talented enough to compete, or the coaching- starting and ending with third-year coach Mike Elko, who deserves the bulk of the blame for his offseason decisions, ranging from the players he acquired from the transfer portal to starting quarterback Marcel Reed's lack of development.

One of the biggest worries after Saturday's loss is how the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class views the last two weeks of play. While four-star Edge Frederick Ards reportedly took an unofficial visit with the Florida Gators on Sunday, fellow four-star Edge Kaden McCarty took to social media, responding to an A&M fan who asked if any 2027 commits were "reconsidering" their commitment decision.

McCarty, who is not even close to reconsidering his decision to commit and sign with the Aggies later this year, responded, stating that he remains "locked in " with Texas A&M no matter what, trusting that Mike Elko will turn around what is already a mess of a season with eight regular-season games remaining.

Speaking for the other 25 commitments in the 2027 cycle, it's early, but one source told me that little movement, if any, is expected with Early Signing Day just two months away. McCarty is the heart and soul of the class and has likely spoken with nearly every committed player after the game.

Texas A&M will host Arkansas on Saturday at 6:00 p.m., and the game will air on ESPN2.
