2027 5-star CB sets official visit date with Texas A&M

Amid Texas A&M’s spring football season, coach Mike Elko and his staff hosted several five-star prospects in the 2027 class, including standout cornerback Joshua Dobson, who is currently favored to land with LSU, but has reportedly set his official visit with the Aggies amid his weekend visit.

Already landing commitments from three blue-chip defensive backs, Dobson, along with fellow five-star corner John Meredith, will be the primary focus heading into the summer, as the blue-chip prospect has set his Aggie OV for June 5, which is a popular visit date for a long list of 2027 prospects who will descend on College Station this summer.

So far, Dobson has taken visits to South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame, which coincided with the Fighting Irish’s 41-40 loss to Texas A&M, providing a chance to see how Mike Elko operates in live action. Like most recruits who do their homework, Mike Elko’s background as an elite secondary coach has paid dividends on the recruiting trail.

After his unofficial visit to College Station this summer, Dobson had nothing but praise for what Elko and his staff are building, especially after making the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.

“I was out there two weeks ago, and, just like everything, coach (Mike) Elko is a DB (defensive back) coach, so that means alot to me right there, and just seeing the stadium (Kyle Field) and just seeing the way they go about things.”

Joshua Dobson transferred to Cornelius (N.C.) Hough, before his 2026 senior season, recorded a tackle and an interception during the Under Armour All-America Game earlier this year. According to 247Sports, Dobson is the 43rd-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 6th-ranked cornerback, and the 2nd-ranked prospect in North Carolina.
