2027 Chicago linebacker names Tennessee football in top five schools

Tennessee is recruiting toward its 2027 football signing class.

Four-star linebacker Roman Igwebuike named Tennessee in his top five schools, along with Indiana, Clemson, Missouri and Notre Dame, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect is from Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, Illinois. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 14 linebacker in the class and No. 9 player in Illinois.

Tennessee offered Igwebuike a scholarship on March 13, 2025. He has visited the Vols twice and will officially visit Tennessee on June 19.

Illinois was the first school to offer Igwebuike a scholarship on Jan. 10, 2025.

Other Power Four schools to offer him scholarships include Iowa State, Syracuse, Purdue, Louisville, USC, Minnesota, Kansas State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Ohio State, Michigan State, Arizona State, Oregon, Miami, Iowa, Boston College, North Carolina, Texas, Ole Miss, Washington, Florida State, North Carolina State, Maryland, Arkansas, West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Florida, Georgia Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Georgia and Oklahoma State.

Tennessee has seven commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman and defensive back Carter Jamison.
