Georgia football enters the 2026 season overhearing potential growth for the College Football Playoffs. But the Bulldogs grew their 2027 College Football Recruiting class Wednesday. They even beat out Ohio State and Florida for three-star defensive lineman Waylon Wooten.

The newest Bulldog commit even delivered this message via Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals that’ll fire up the fanbase.

“Let’s Go Win A Natty! Go Dawgs,” Wooten shared to Fawcett.

Wooten enters Athens as a 6-foot-2, 312-pound option for interior defensive lineman duties. He’s a local pickup too for head coach Kirby Smart and company, as Wooten stars at Grayson High in Loganville.

Wooten still plays with the possessive trench violence Georgia loves. He’s quick off the ball and creates a pile of discomfort for running backs and quarterbacks off his push. He brings a nose for the football and teams struggle running the ball against him. Wooten is obviously undersized compared to past star Jordan Davis. Yet presents the strength and trench tenacity to deliver his Davis-like impact for the Bulldogs.

Smart and Georgia gain a pass rushing option here too. Wooten disrupts screen passes through his reported 81-inch arms. But Georgia earns a defender who wins the leverage battle thanks to being a relatively shorter defender. Wooten still gains an edge in getting underneath an offensive lineman’s pads to generate an aggressive pushback.

This recruiting win over the Buckeyes and Gators makes up for a previous loss a week ago. Georgia lost out on landing four-star quarterback Peter Bourque to Virginia Tech, who also was a former Michigan commit.
