2027 OL Caleb Unger stays home, commits to Mississippi State

Caleb Unger

Madison (Miss.) Madison-Ridgeland Academy offensive lineman Caleb Unger has been a priority for Jeff Lebby and the Mississippi State coaching staff for some time. Unger was on campus this past weekend for a Junior Day, then Lebby was at his school on Wednesday – now Unger is a Bulldog.

“I went into the visit thinking about committing, then I felt even better about it after the visit, then when Coach Lebby came to the school today, it sealed the deal,” Unger told Rivals.

“I have been there about three or four times and it has changed. Coach Lebby has a whole new environment, the staff means business and the program is going up.”

Unger chose the in-state school over Baylor, Colorado and Florida State. The staff was a big reason why.

“I love Coach Lebby. He is a great coach and a great person. Being his second year at Mississippi State, there is a big difference. Big things are happening. They should have beaten Texas. They should have beaten Florida. State is going to win games like that in the future. Coach Lebby is changing things. He means business.

“Coach Loadholt is so passionate as a coach. I like how he coaches and I know he can help me a lot.”

The 6-foot-1, 305-pound three-star knows where he wants to be. He wants to be part of Lebby’s program.

“It is close to home, I love Coach Lebby’s vision, and I am ready to go be a leader at Mississippi State,” he said.
