The 2029 recruiting cycle is a long way away, but three-star wide receiver Braylen Averett is already generating plenty of buzz as a sophomore. He produced 939 yards and nine touchdowns on 49 receptions as a freshman, and he's set to soar past those totals with 896 yards (leading all sophomores in Alabama) and 11 scores on 37 catches in eight games this season.
Naturally, a player that's already producing at the level at which Averett is has an abundance of schools after him. He's racked up over 20 offers, but six programs in particular are seen as the leaders. They're the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, Florida Gators, and the Florida State Seminoles.
The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder got an offer from FSU during a Junior Day event back in January, and he took unofficial visits in April and September. That's given Averett several opportunities to be around the Seminoles, and he spoke on why they are standing out in his recruitment.
"I like, I love Coach Norvell [head coach Mike Norvell]. He's a great coach. Coach [Tim] Harris, the receiver coach. The way their offense works, they do a lot of motions as well. And I just like it down there, the atmosphere is amazing," Averett told 247Sports.
Averett is listed as the No. 155 recruit nationally and the No. 22 wide receiver in Rivals industry rankings. They rank him as the No. 4 prospect in Alabama as well.
Florida State has very stiff competition for Averett. So, they need to get back to their winning ways while also trying to get him back on campus for another visit.
