3 bold takes for Alabama's matchup against Oklahoma in Week 12

The Alabama Crimson Tide will face the Oklahoma Sooners in Tuscaloosa on Saturday afternoon.

Alabama will enter the contest with an 8-1 record and among the top teams in the SEC. The Tide suffered a brutal 24-3 loss to the Sooners last season in Oklahoma, and Alabama now finds themselves with an excellent opportunity to send a message following last year’s matchup. Ty Simpson has been elite for the majority of the 2025 season and the Heisman contender is in prime position for another big performance against the Sooners’ defense.

Here are three bold takes for Alabama’s matchup against the Sooners in Tuscaloosa.

Germie Bernard hauls in 150+ yards and a touchdown

Bernard has arguably been the most consistent receiver on the Alabama offense in 2025. Bernard could be in excellent position for another big time performance on Saturday, as the Oklahoma secondary has had their fair share of struggles for a large portion of the 2025 season. The Sooners’ run defense ranks among the top units in the country despite struggling through the air, and Bernard should quickly become an X-factor throughout the contest.

Alabama’s defense holds the Oklahoma offense to just 10 total points

The Crimson Tide’s defense has been nothing short of elite throughout the second half of the season. Yhonzae Pierre currently leads the unit in sacks with six, and Pierre could easily find himself setting the tone early against John Mateer and the Sooners’ offense. The Alabama defense as a whole held LSU to just nine points last weekend, and I believe the Sooners could struggle immensely when facing one of the top defensive units in all of college football.

Ty Simpson sends an authoritative message by throwing for 250+ yards and three touchdowns

Simpson is widely regarded as a top candidate for the Heisman Trophy award at the conclusion of this season. The talented redshirt junior has been spectacular for the majority of the year, and Simpson finds himself with an excellent opportunity to thrive once again against an Oklahoma secondary that has struggled in recent weeks. The star quarterback could turn to both Bernard and Ryan Williams as top playmakers throughout Saturday’s contest, and Simpson will have the opportunity to put his talent on full display once again.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will host the Oklahoma Sooners in Tuscaloosa on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm CT.
