Two years ago, college football returned to the video game format with the release of "EA Sports' College Football 25." It was the first licensed college football game in over a decade and featured real rosters, players, and environments.

In just a few weeks, the third installment of the franchise will hit shelves. "EA Sports' College Football 27" promises to build on the foundation of the last two games and give fans the most in-depth college football video game ever. Iowa fans will have the opportunity to play with a fun Hawkeye roster that features a trio of the best players in the game.

Last week, the official player ratings for the launch of the game were released. Iowa has three players who are in the top 10 of their respective positions. Offensive lineman Kade Pieper comes in at an impressive 95 overall, left tackle Trevor Lauck is a 90 overall and tight end DJ Vonnahme is an 88 overall.

Pieper is the top-ranked center and tied for the eighth-highest-rated player in the entire game. Pieper is tied with Georgia's KJ Bolden, Oregon's Dante Moore, and Texas' Colin Simmons. The former right guard is looking to fill the shoes of Logan Jones and is in line for a monster season.

Lauck is the seventh-highest-rated tackle in the game. He leapt onto the scene out of nowhere last season, winning the job in camp and impressing everyone. Lauck looks poised to be the next great Iowa tackle and has a great chance to play at the next level.

Vonnahme is the fifth-best tight end in the game. He's tied with former Iowa State and current Penn State tight end Benjamin Brahmer as the second-best Big Ten tight end in the game. After breaking out as a redshirt freshman last season, Vonnahme will look to take a superstar jump in year two.

"College Football 27" will release on July 2 for MVP+ and EA Play subscribers. Those who purchase the deluxe edition can play the game on July 6. The worldwide release date is July 9.
