On Saturday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Kentucky Wildcats are set to meet in Lexington, opening the 2026 SEC conference schedule for both.
Coming off a dominant win over East Carolina, this will be a test for the Crimson Tide, as not only is it Alabama's first road game this season, but it will also be the first start for Keelon Russell at quarterback away from Tuscaloosa.
In addition to that, Kentucky is also in the first season under head coach Will Stein, and have a new-look roster that is headlined by a few prominent transfers at positions such as quarterback and running back.
A challenging matchup which Alabama enters as the favorite, following are three predictions for Alabama's Week 2 showdown against the Kentucky Wildcats.
EJ Crowell has breakout performance, rushes for 100+ yards
Alabama true freshman running back EJ Crowell impressed in his limited action last Saturday against East Carolina, rushing for 37 yards and a touchdown on seven attempts. I'll go with Alabama's running game overall to have a big showing Saturday against Kentucky, but for Crowell to be the main takeaway of the group overall, rushing for 100+ yards against the Wildcat defense.
Alabama defense forces two Kentucky turnovers
Speaking of defense, Alabama's could be a true difference maker in this matchup Saturday. The Alabama defense will likely be the toughest that Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey has ever faced, and I'll predict not only for the Crimson Tide to record multiple sacks, but also force two turnovers, one of which is an interception.
Keelon Russell throws for 300+ yards, two touchdowns
One of the biggest storylines entering Saturday is the first road start in the collegiate career of Keelon Russell, and I'll predict the Alabama quarterback to impress in Week 2 with both his arm and legs. This will include Russell's first touchdown pass of the season, as well as at-least 300+ passing yards.
