The Georgia Bulldogs (4-0) will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (3-1) this Saturday in Athens. Georgia comes into this contest fresh off of a dominating 41-13 home victory against the Oklahoma Sooners. Vanderbilt will be looking to rebound after taking a 21-15 loss to Auburn, which was their first of the season. The Commodores bring in a solid amount of experienced talent and will look to cause some issues for the Bulldogs.
Georgia has a winning streak of six games over Vanderbilt heading into the Oct. 3 matchup. It's been very clear just how well-rounded the Bulldogs are even this early in the season. The Bulldogs will look to utilize their depth to wear down the Commodores on Saturday and to add to the winning streak with seven straight victories.
Three reasons why the Georgia Bulldogs will defeat the Vanderbilt Commodores
Georgia's offense will be clicking on all cylinders
The Georgia Bulldogs offense currently leads the nation in scoring at 54.8 points per game with a 4-0 start to the 2026 season. Georgia has showcased a strong balance of passing and running along with being solid in special teams. Starting with Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton, Georgia has been able to score with explosive plays, move the ball down field on a consistent basis. Stockton has been solid with 754 passing yards and nine touchdowns this season.
In the running game, Nate Frazier has rushed for 202 yards and five touchdowns in three games but was sidelined due to a rib injury he suffered in the Arkansas win a couple of weeks ago. In his absence, running backs Chauncey Bowens and Dwight Phillips has carried the load. Bowens had two rushing touchdowns against the Sooners last week and Phillips had one of his own.
As long as the Bulldogs continue to utilize their backs in the run game and Gunner Stockton can continue his effectiveness through the air and even on the ground, then the Bulldogs should be able to roll offensively against the Commodores defense.
LB Chris Cole and the Bulldogs defense will be flying all over
Taking a look at last week's victory against the Oklahoma Sooners, the Bulldogs showed the speed and physicality defensively that is arguably second to none. Georgia clearly has weapons all over the defense from the defensive line to the secondary but one key player that will make the biggest difference is Bulldogs linebacker Chris Cole. Cole was an absolute machine last week against the Sooners. Cole had 8 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and a fumble return touchdown. Georgia's defense has allowed zero points in the first quarter this season. Expect another dominant performance from Chris Cole and the Georgia defense.
Home field advantage in Sanford stadium
Home field advantage may or may not help some teams depending on the venue but in Athens, Sanford Stadium is one of the more iconic venues in college football. Georgia always enhances its play when playing at home and the boost of 90,000-plus fans screaming creates a major advantage for the Bulldogs. Sanford is a very loud place to be on a Saturday and you can expect it to be rocking this weekend, playing a big advantage for the Georgia Bulldogs.
