A potential new recruit in the 2026 cycle for Penn State has just decommitted from Iowa State.

3- star quarterback Kase Evans just announced that he would like to request his release from Iowa State after the departure of Matt Campbell to Happy Valley. Now however, he could reunite with coach Campbell, but this time in University Park.

Evans had ironically signed with the Cyclones the day that former Penn State head coach James Franklin was fired, on October 12th. However, now that Campbell has replaced Franklin, Evans is yet again looking for a new place to play.

In his post on X, Evans said that “after considerable reflection, prayer, and talks with my family I have made the decision to request my release from lowa State University,” becoming his second decommittment in this cycle.

He had also initially pledged to Oklahoma State before Mike Gundy was fired, so turned his sights to Ames, where he made relationships with several key coaches that have now been added to Campbell’s staff with the Nittany Lions. This paves a potential path for Evans to be the second QB recruit in Penn State’s class after four-star Peyton Falzone recomitted to Penn State after flipping from Auburn.

Evans is the No. 1188 prospect overall and the No. 64 quarterback according to Rivals Industry Rankings, and as a junior in high school, he threw for 3,113 yards and 37 touchdowns. His senior season was equally impressive, throwing for nearl 3,000 yards yet again with 29 touchdowns through the air and added six touchdowns on the ground as well.
