The Oklahoma Sooners landed a signature from three-star tight end Ryder Mix on Wednesday’s early signing day, as they continue to add to their 2026 recruiting class.
Mix was ranked as a three-star prospect by 247Sports Composite, and he hails from Frisco (Texas) Lone Star High School. Mix stands at 6-foot-4, weighs 220 pounds, and was ranked as the 47th-best tight end in the ’26 class.
Mix committed to tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley all the way back on June 15th of 2024, and OU gave him an offer on February 2nd of last year. Mix also holds offers from plenty of other SEC schools, such as Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
Tight end has been a position of frustration for Sooner Nation in recent years, with the emergence of converted linebacker Jaren Kanak into the top tight end in 2025 serving as a rare bright spot since Brayden Willis graduated after 2022.
The Sooners will pair Mix with 2025 recruit Trynae Washington at the tight end spot going forward, and they hope the future of the position under Finley is better than the recent past and present.
