Ohio State football got back on track in under three minutes, running all over Kent State Saturday, 59-3.
Ja’Kobi Jackson started a 21-point scoring frenzy in the first quarter, and Ohio State ran with it from there.

Jackson added a second rushing touchdown in the third. Julian Sayin threw two touchdowns and Bo Jackson had a rushing score.
All the while, Jeremiah Smith placed his name in the school history books.
Here are three takeaways from Ohio State’s 59-3 victory over Kent State on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
1. Jeremiah Smith Makes History For Receiving Yards
Jeremiah Smith, the future NFL star, broke the career record for receiving yards at Ohio State early vs. Kent State. The junior moved ahead of Michael Jenkins, who recorded 2,898 yards in his Buckeye career.
As a freshman, Smith had 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns, following that up with 87 receptions for 1,243 yards and 12 scores as a sophomore. He hauled in five passes for 85 yards vs. the Golden Flashes, giving him 21 catches and 400 yards with three TDs this year.
Smith is going to put that number well out of reach by the time he is done this year.
2. Backfield Jackson Duo Turning Into A Formidable Group
Bo Jackson and Ja’Kobi Jackson put together a strong game for Ohio State, as the two carried the ball 19 times for 120 yards and three touchdowns. As a group, the Buckeyes rushed 38 times for 145 yards and four scores.
Leading rusher Bo Jackson had 11 of those carries, churning out 73 yards and a score. He had a long run of 17. Ja’Kobi Jackson had two rushing TDs and 47 yards on just eight carries, averaging almost six per.
3. Heralded Freshman Chris Henry Jr. Breaks Free
If anyone is going to come close to that career receiving record Smith is going to have, it might be freshman Chris Henry, Jr. The top recruit made an impact Saturday, catching a 75-yard touchdown pass.
Henry has a long ways to go to catch Smith in terms of freshman numbers, as that was just his second catch after hauling in a 15-yard touchdown vs. Ball State.
The son of former NFL standout Chris Henry, the younger receiver is sure to become a bigger part of the offense after this performance.
