3,300-Yard Quarterback Jamison Roberts Praises Oklahoma Sooners

Brent Venables led the Oklahoma Sooners to their fifth College Football Playoff appearance in 2025. However, their run didn’t last long, losing in the first round at home to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
However, it was a major step up after going just 6-7 in 2024. With the offseason in full swing, the Sooners have begun picking up their recruiting efforts. Venables and his staff have identified class of 2027 quarterback Jamison Roberts as a target.
As a junior at Saraland High School, he completed 219-of-300 passes for 3,370 yards, 37 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for 641 yards and 21 touchdowns on 104 carries.
His dual-threat ability is an aspect that Oklahoma has valued in recent quarterbacks. John Mateer rushed for 431 yards in 2025, while Jackson Arnold racked up 444 rushing yards in 2024.
Roberts’ production has helped him become a three-star recruit, the No. 27 quarterback and the No. 393 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings. Along with Oklahoma, he has received offers from the Auburn Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, Tulane Green Wave and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Interest continues to grow between him and the Sooners. He was in Norman to watch Oklahoma’s 17-6 win over the Missouri Tigers on Nov. 22. Recently speaking to Rivals’ Chad Simmons, Roberts shared a high opinion of the Sooners.
“Coach [Ben] Arbuckle came down early in January and we had a great meeting,” Roberts said. “I like him a lot. I was out there for the Missouri game, and it was a great experience. Coach Venables is great too. I like what he stands for as a head coach.”
At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, he already has impressive size for a junior in high school. While nothing is official, it’s clear Oklahoma is trending in the right direction for Roberts’ commitment.
The Sooners’ 2027 recruiting class already ranks fourth in the nation with 13 commitments. However, Roberts has the potential to be the first quarterback added.
