On what is expected to be a massive day of recruiting for the Oregon Ducks, the program fell just short in a battle against a bitter rival.

Four-star offensive lineman Gecova Doyal committed to Washington over the Ducks, ending a long recruiting war between the rival and bordering programs. UCLA and Utah were also among the finalists.

Doyal took an official visit to Eugene early in June, and the visit ended with the Ducks feeling like leaders. However, the Huskies got Doyal for his final visit on June 19, and it seems Washington did enough to keep one of the state’s top recruits close to home.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, Doyal is a mauler on the interior, ranking as the No. 17 interior offensive lineman and No. 257 player overall, according to Rivals. He can play tackle, but he has found success since moving to guard, where many college programs have focused his recruitment.

Oregon has already built up a strong offensive line class with four commitments, including four-star Gus Corsair and three-star Lex Mailangi in the interior. The Ducks would still like to add one more commitment, it seems, despite missing out on Doyal.

Five-star Ismael Camara, who can also play tackle and guard, is gearing up toward a decision. Oregon figures to be a major player in his recruitment, but they will have to battle Texas and others for his services.
