The Georgia Bulldogs along with four other college football programs are among the top schools for four-star linebacker recruit Jalaythan Mayfield, who is a member of the class of 2027. The rising senior plays high school football for Lincolnton High School in Lincolnton, North Carolina.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker puts Georgia, Indiana, Oregon, Miami and Kentucky in his top five. 247Sports ranks Mayfield as the No. 165 recruit in the country in the 2027 cycle. He's the No. 8 linebacker and the No. 8 prospect in North Carolina.

Georgia's Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann were among the numerous college football coaches to visit Mayfield during January. The elite linebacker recruit also received a visit from Indiana defensive coordinator Bryant Haines. Mayfield also took a recent recruiting visit to Kentucky's campus for their junior day, where Kentucky made it known that Mayfield is a priority.

Mayfield is coming off an outstanding junior season with Lincolnton. He was named as the conference defensive player of the year. The four-star posted 152 tackles (includes 26 tackles for a loss), six sacks, six forced fumbles, a blocked punt and a blocked field goal. He also contributed 13 rushing touchdowns and 343 rushing yards on offense.

Mayfield has good speed and does a good job of hustling in pursuit of opposing ball carriers. The Lincolnton star is willing to contribute on special teams and projects as an off-ball linebacker at the next level.
