The Georgia Bulldogs have landed a commitment from four-star quarterback recruit Colton Nussmeier, who is a member of the class of 2027. Nussmeier’s commitment is massive for Georgia, who was running out of options at quarterback in the 2027 cycle. Nussmeier is the final 2027 quarterback recruit ranked in the top-30 at his position to announce his commitment.

Nussmeier is familiar name for many fans. He is the brother of former LSU Tigers starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. He comes from a football family. His dad, Doug, is the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound quarterback is attending the Elite 11 finals. He’s regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in the rising senior class.

Nussmeier plays high school football and basketball for Denton Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. The talented passer is the No. 142 recruit in the nation, per 247Sports. Nussmeier is the No. 10 quarterback recruit in the country and the No. 19 prospect in Texas.

If Nussmeier signs with Georgia, then he’ll compete to be the next starting quarterback at Georgia. UGA starting quarterback Gunner Stockton is entering his senior season and is expected to head to the NFL via the 2027 NFL draft. Ryan Puglisi and Ryan Montgomery are experienced options that are expected to be the top competition for the job. Other quarterbacks on Georgia’s roster include redshirt freshman Hezekiah Millender and four-star signee Bryson Beaver.

“All glory to God! Go Dawgs!” Nussmeier said after announcing his commitment.
