4-Star QB Dane Weber Excited About Georgia Offer and Shares Desire to Visit Athens

Since taking over as the Georgia Bulldogs‘ head coach in 2016, Kirby Smart has gained a reputation as one of college football‘s top recruiters. His efforts have translated to success, already winning two national championships during his tenure.

After falling to the Ole Miss Rebels in the Sugar Bowl last season, he’s hit the recruiting trail on a mission. Georgia’s 2027 cycle already ranks fifth nationally with seven commitments. However, Smart is still looking to land his first quarterback.

The Bulldogs recently made a move for Dane Weber. On Thursday, the Temecula, California native announced he’d received an offer from Georgia.

At 6-foot-0 and 215 pounds, Weber is a four-star recruit, the No. 20 quarterback and the No. 291 player in the nation, per Rivals. Last season for Chaparral High School, he threw for 3,645 yards, 41 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed for 688 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Shortly after announcing his offer, the quarterback spoke to Rivals’ recruiting analyst Greg Biggins. Weber expressed his high interest in Georgia and made it clear he is eager for a visit to Athens.

“I’m for sure going to visit Georgia,” he said. “It just happened so I don’t have a date yet but I’m very excited about Georgia, that’s a big time program… I just need to figure out a date that works for them and me and I’ll be on campus for sure.”

While Weber is excited about his latest offer, the Bulldogs are joining the party late. The quarterback has already taken visits with programs such as the UCLA Bruins, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks and Oklahoma Sooners.

Georgia will now look to build momentum for Weber as it continues to shape its 2027 recruiting class.
