The Northwestern Wildcats' football program is one to watch this season with a non-conference game against Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes set for Sept. 19 and the opener of the new Ryan Field set for Oct. 2 vs. Penn State.
The Wildcats are expected to rely on the passing and running skills of Aidan Chiles and Nicco Marchiol at quarterback along with the dependable, sure-handed receiving skills of Griffin Wilde at wide receiver.
Wilde was just named as a Biletnikoff Award Watch List member, which goes to the nation's best receiver.
He has also helped inspire the next generation of prospective Wildcats as he has put Northwestern receiving talent back on the map.
Earlier this week, a four-star Class of 2028 prospect, Hayden Koo, announced that he will consider following in Wilde's footsteps as he released a list of eight college football programs he will begin visiting starting on Aug. 29, including Northwestern.
Koo Announces Recruiting Visits
Koo's recruiting visits were shared by Greg Biggins of On3.com on X and included several well known college football teams.
"Talented Tusin (Calif.) '28 WR Hayden Koo recently cut his list of schools to 12 and the talented catcher has nine game day visits locked in," Biggins wrote.
The visits include the Stanford Cardinal on Aug. 29, the California Golden Bears on Sept. 5, the Michigan Wolverines on Sept. 12, the Northwestern Wildcats on Sept. 19, the Brigham Young University Cougars on Oct. 17, the UCLA Bruins on Oct. 24, the Oregon Ducks on Nov. 14, and the Ohio State Buckeyes on Nov. 28.
Northwestern has one commitment for the Class of 2028 so far, quarterback Aiden Phifer of Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Koo could become the second if all goes according to plan for coach David Braun's team.
Koo Visit a Great Sign for Northwestern Football
Koo's visit is a great sign for coach Braun's program as he is a top flight prospect with offers from highly successful college football programs.
The above list of teams stands out but it only tells a partial story.
Koo has also received offers from the Washington Huskies, USC Trojans, Virginia Tech Hokies, Utah Utes and Arizona State Sun Devils among others.
At 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, Koo still has plenty of time to grow into his considerable frame, mature, and work on his craft in high school.
The fact that Koo has received so many offers so early in his high school career also bodes well for his chances of remaining a highly ranked prospect into the next year and beyond.
Expect the recruiting battle for Koo to heat up in the coming months as he tours some of the United States' best college football programs and stadiums, while gathering as much information possible to ensure he makes the best choice for himself and his family.
The Wildcats' inclusion send a strong signal that Braun and company are hunting for a strong recruiting class, and landing Koo would help get the ball rolling in a positive direction right away.
