It got a little scary after the previous commitment delay, but the LSU Tigers landed four-star safety Jayden Anding on Tuesday, the player announced live (with help from his nephew).
Anding was going to commit earlier in July, but ended up putting it off on the day. The Tigers then added Greedy James at the position and it seemed like perhaps LSU would not be going after Anding, but instead they get both.
Jayden will join his brother, Aiden, who is currently a Tigers cornerback. Aiden will not play this season due to a torn Achilles. They will, however, overlap at school and become the next pair of great LSU brothers.
Anding is a four-star safety. He's the No. 311-ranked player in the country, the No. 26-ranked player at his position and the No. 11 player out of the state of Louisiana. There will be more highly-touted safeties, but Anding will certainly be able to rise above what is already a respectable high school ranking.
The Ruston native is a little undersized right now at 5-foot-10, 165 pounds, but could bulk up into being a very interesting chess piece for Blake Baker at that defense. It'll be interesting to see where he gets up to on campus and what role he actually fills.
The Tigers now have 16 players signed on to their 2027 class, and Anding helps lift them right into the Top 10 for recruiting classes in the nation. LSU ended up with 19 players in last year's class, so it'll be interesting to see how the transfer portal gets utilized versus recruiting in a normal year for Lane Kiffin and his staff.
