Will Stein and the Kentucky Wildcats added a talented player to their 2027 recruiting class, landing local receiver Tyler Fryman.
Fryman announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Friday, per On3 insider Hayes Fawcett. Hailing from Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, he chose the Wildcats over the Louisville Cardinals, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Fryman stands out as a four-star receiver with a 90 score on 247Sports. He ranks fourth among players from the state of Kentucky, 31st among players at his position, and 203rd in the entire 2027 class. His composite score of 0.9229 puts him at third, 30th and 210th in those respective categories.
The Northern Kentucky standout put together a huge junior season, recording 45 receptions for 1,023 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also added 17 rushing attempts for 277 yards and three more scores, showcasing the versatility that has made him one of the state’s most sought-after athletes.
What’s next for Kentucky after landing Tyler Fryman
Will Stein and Kentucky will look forward to Tyler Fryman’s growth as a star receiver when he joins the program in 2027. In the meantime, the Wildcats look to achieve significant success in Year 1 under Stein.
Following the conclusion of the 2025 season, head coach Mark Stoops departed from the program after 13 seasons. The Wildcats finished bowl-ineligible for the second consecutive year. Stoops concluded his tenure at Kentucky with an overall record of 82–80, leaving as the winningest head coach in the program’s history.
2025 was disappointing for the squad, finishing with a 5-7 record. This includes a 2-6 showing in SEC play, settling for 11th place out of 16 teams in the conference standings.
Stein begins his first year as a head coach, having been in positional roles prior to going to Kentucky. His last role saw him shine as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the Oregon Ducks, helping the reach the College Football Playoffs throughout his stint from 2023 to 2025.
