Jayden Bryant (b. Oct. 3, 2005) is a transfer defensive end from Coastal Carolina who is majoring in communication studies. I don’t quite expect him to break into the top-six rotation at D-end, but it’s possible…

Bryant prepped under head coach Perry Woolbright at Clover (S.C.) High School, where he was a two-time all-region honoree who also was named to the all-state team and was the Class 5A defensive player of the year.

He helped to lead the Blue Eagles to a regional championship, lining up at both outside linebacker and defensive end, and also competed in wrestling. He was rated a three-star recruit at edge for the Class of 2024 by On3.

In 2024, Bryant played in three games for the Chanticleers as a true freshman, recording six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and half a sack, as he retained his redshirt.

He posted three tackles apiece against both William & Mary and UTSA, the latter coming in the Myrtle Beach Bowl, and he also had a full tackle for loss against the Roadrunners when he played on a season-high 28 defensive snaps, while he posted half a sack in 26 snaps against the Tribe.

Bryant played in all 13 games last season for Coastal, totaling 16 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks in his 248 defensive snaps. He set a career high with five tackles against James Madison — all solo stops — including a 10-yard sack, and also had a sack against Georgia Southern.

Overall, Pro Football Focus gave him a grade of 67.9 out of 100 when rushing the passer.

Bryant carded two tackles apiece against Virginia, Old Dominion, Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana Tech, the last of these occurring in the Independence Bowl, in which current K-State defensive backs coach Jeremiah Johnson, then the defensive coordinator at Coastal Carolina, also was serving as interim head coach during the bowl game.

Bryant originally committed to Coastal over offers from Elon, Kennesaw State and Lenoir-Rhyne, as well as recruiting interest from Appalachian State, Bryant (ironic!), Dartmouth, Harvard, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, Rutgers, UMass and Wofford.
