40 Mississippi State football players entered portal. Here's where most of them are going

STARKVILLE — Forty Mississippi State football players have entered the transfer portal as of Jan. 20.
The portal closed Jan. 16. Of the 40 Mississippi State players in the transfer portal, 13 have committed to teams in power conferences.
The Bulldogs and coach Jeff Lebby have added 22 players in the transfer portal for the 2026 season.
Here’s a look at where every Mississippi State outgoing transfer will play in 2026.
Mississippi State players transferring to teams in power conferences
S Tony Mitchell
The safety committed to Ole Miss after one season at MSU. He made 25 tackles in 11 games and three starts this season.
OL Jimothy Lewis Jr.
The offensive lineman who started five games in 2025 is transferring to Cal. He also took a visit to Alabama.
TE Cam Ball
Tight end Cam Ball is transferring to West Virginia after making two catches for 12 yards this season.
DL Ashun Shepphard
Ashun Sheppard committed to Cal after playing two games this season at defensive line.
P Nathan Tiyce
Nathan Tiyce, one of MSU’s punters, is transferring to Penn State.
S Cyrus Reyes
Safety Cyrus Reyes was mostly a special teams contributor and will play at Kentucky in 2026.
CB Elijah Cannon
Cornerback Elijah Cannon, like Reyes, was mainly a special teams player. He’ll play at Kansas in 2026.
DL Kai McClendon
Defensive lineman Kai McClendon missed all of 2025 with an injury after showing promise as a freshman in 2024. He committed to Washington.
OL Luke Work
Offensive lineman Luke Work committed to Missouri after starting one game at MSU this season. He started seven games as a freshman in 2024.
DL Kedrick Bingley-Jones
Defensive lineman Kedrick Bingley-Jones is transferring to Alabama. He was a starter at MSU with 25 tackles this season and no sacks.
CB Jayven Williams
Second-string cornerback Jayven Williams committed to BYU. He transferred to Mississippi State in 2025 from Kennesaw State.
OL Zack Owens
Starting guard Zack Owens committed to Missouri.
WR Ricky Johnson
Wide receiver Ricky Johnson committed to Utah after making three catches for 17 yards this season. He’ll reunite with former MSU wide receivers coach Chad Bumphis, who was hired by Utah.
Mississippi State players transferring to other teams
WR Jordan Mosley
Wide receiver Jordan Mosley committed to Colorado State after making eight catches for 168 yards and one touchdown in 2025.
S Stonka Burnside
Stonka Burnside, the former four-star from Starkville, committed to Memphis. He came to MSU as a wide receiver but switch to safety in 2025 and only played four games.
WR Cam Thompson
Wide receiver Cam Thompson committed to Northern Illinois after transferring from there to Mississippi State in 2025. He had no catches with the Bulldogs.
OL Jaekwon Bouldin
Offensive lineman Jaekwon Bouldin is transferring to Jackson State after playing in one game this season.
WR Jaron Glover
Wide receiver Jaron Glover committed to USF. He did not catch a pass in 2025 after transferring from Michigan State.
DL Corey Clark
The defensive lineman is transferring for Florida Atlantic. He played in three games this season with four tackles.
OL Alex Lopez
Offensive lineman Alex Lopez is transferring to Western Kentucky after playing in one game in 2025.
K Marlon Hauck
Kickoff specialist Marlon Hauck is transferring to Tulsa.
WR Markus Allen
Wide receiver Markus Allen will play at Middle Tennessee State in 2026. He had one catch for seven yards in 2025.
LB Joseph Head Jr.
Linebacker Joseph Head Jr. is transferring to Memphis after making six tackles this season in 11 games.
TE Max Reese
Tight end Max Reese committed to North Texas after recording two catches for one yard in 2025.
QB Luke Kromenhoek
Third-string quarterback Luke Kromenhoek is transferring to USF.
RB Johnnie Daniels
Running back Johnnie Daniels is transferring to Tulane. He was second on the team in rushing in 2024 but dropped in the depth chart in 2025 and only played in three games.
S Tyler Woodard
Safety Tyler Woodard is transferring to Coastal Carolina after leaving the MSU program in November.
RB Seth Davis
Running back Seth Davis committed to Tulsa. He missed all of 2024 with a knee injury and had five carries in 2025.
OL Koby Keenum
Reserve offensive lineman Koby Keenum will transfer to Memphis.
LB Montrell Chapman
Linebacker Montrell Chapman will transfer to Old Dominion after making one tackle in 2025.
Mississippi State players who haven’t committed
The following nine players, none of whom were starters, have not committed to other teams as of Jan. 20: wide receivers AJ Lewis Jr., Ferzell Shepard and Davian Jackson, safety Lo’Kavion Jackson, defensive lineman Terrance Hibbler Jr., offensive lineman Brennan Smith, tight end Emeka Iloh and defensive backs Dwight Lewis III and DK McGruder.
Starting offensive tackle Jayvin Q. James hasn’t committed to a team yet either after entering the portal on Jan. 20.
