The old adage is “records are made to be broken,” so let’s take a look at which Michigan Football players are most likely to break a program record at some point during the 2026 season.

Andrew Marsh (WR)

Following a spectacular finish to his freshman season, Andrew Marsh will be Michigan’s top receiving target, and his explosive play capability gives him a chance to challenge program records. He broke the school freshman record for receiving yards (189) and catches (12) in a single game last year. Now, he could break the record for single-game catches (15) and receiving touchdowns (four), or single-season receiving yards (1,373) if he has the type of year he’s capable of.

Bryce Underwood (QB)

Most of the all-time passing marks at Michigan are relatively out of reach, but Bryce Underwood could contend for a few records if he truly has a breakout season. He completed 202 passes last year, so it’s not unthinkable for him to challenge the single-season record for total completions (270). However, he would really have to take a leap in production if he wants to break the single-season passing yards record (3,331) or single-season passing touchdowns (25) record.

John Henry Daley (DE)

Despite recovering from a season-ending injury, John Henry Daley is expected to have a big-time season in his first year with the Wolverines after following head coach Kyle Whittingham to Ann Arbor. The former Utah edge rusher was second in the nation with 11.5 sacks in 2025, and he could have a shot to beat Michigan’s single-season sacks (14) and tackles for loss (29) record. Additionally, he and the rest of the edge rushers will be chasing the single-game mark for sacks (five).

Jordan Marshall (RB)

After taking the backseat in each of his first two years, Jordan Marshall is set to lead the backfield in 2026 and could threaten the single-season rushing record. It won’t be easy to eclipse Tim Biakabutuka’s record-setting 1,818 yards in 1995, but Marshall is one of the nation’s most complete running backs and has what it takes to have a historically great year.

Savion Hiter (RB)

Staying in the backfield, Savion Hiter is hoping to become the next great running back at Michigan. Since Marshall is expected to earn a significant bulk of the carries, Hiter must make the most of his opportunities. We’ve seen just how dynamic of an athlete he is with the ball in his hands — combining for 51 rushing touchdowns his the last two years of high school — so perhaps he could make a run at the school freshman record for rushing touchdowns in a single-season (11) that Zach Charbonnet set in 2019.
