A former Georgia decommit is getting a very unique opportunity at Vanderbilt. Jared Curtis is set to appear in the movie “The Breadwinner”, according to On3. He earned the role as part of his name, image and likeness (NIL) contract with Vanderbilt.

The movie is directed by Eric Appel and stars Nate Bargatze, who plays a stay-at-home dad as his wife (played by Mandy Moore) lands a deal on “Shark Tank”. Bargatze is from Nashville, Tennessee, which is where Vanderbilt University is located. The movie will come out May 29, 2026.

It’s rare for any college football player, especially an incoming freshman, to appear in a major motion picture, but Curtis managed to work it in his deal with Vanderbilt. Curtis, a five-star quarterback from the class of 2026, flipped from the Bulldogs to the Commodores on the first day of the early signing period in Dec. 2025.

It was the second time in his recruiting journey that Curtis decommitted from Georgia. He decommitted on Oct. 17, 2024, but he recommitted on May 5, 2025. Unfortunately, Curtis chose his hometown school over Georgia again on Dec. 2. Curtis played high school football for Nashville Christian High School in Nashville, Tennessee.

Georgia is looking for a blue-chip quarterback prospect from the class of 2027. They swung and missed on four-star Peter Bourque, who committed to the Virginia Tech Hokies. Maybe adding in movie credit is the missing part of their recruiting pitch.
