5-star Ohio State target Marcus Fakatou to announce decision Monday

Ohio State has been fairly hot on the recruiting trail as of late, but the Buckeyes don’t appear to be done yet. In fact, there are a couple of five-star prospects in the 2027 class that are considered by industry experts to be a lean towards the Scarlet and Gray.

One of those elite recruits is set to announce his college choice on Monday night. Five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou is scheduled to unveil his college commitment at 3:00 p.m. ET on the Rivals YouTube channel, and Ohio State coaches and staff members will be tuned in to hear his announcement, which is expected to go in favor of the Buckeyes. Out of Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California, Fakatou is ranked as the No. 2 defensive lineman in the recruiting cycle and 24th overall prospect in the class per the 247Sports Composite player rankings.

Fakatou has long been considered headed to Columbus, but he has a final three of Ohio State, Georgia, and Texas. We’ll have the announcement for you with anywhere outside of the banks of the Olentangy being a major surprise. However, in today’s world of Name, Image and Likeness, and the money being thrown around, it wouldn’t be the first time a commitment announcement didn’t go as planned.

If things do go Ohio State’s way on Monday, it’ll be the 18th commitment in the 2027 class after a couple of additions this past week. It’s a class that currently ranks as the No. 8 overall in the cycle according to the 247Sports Team Composite rankings and looks to continue rising throughout the process on the way to another top-five or top-ten haul.
