Georgia football rolls out the red carpet for potential Bulldogs during Father’s Day weekend 2026. The Bulldogs have new momentum after flipping four-star wide receiver Jamir Dean from Penn State on Monday. But the Southeastern Conference heavyweight became hit with a College Football Recruiting curveball Wednesday that involves Ohio State and Ole Miss.
Five-star running back David Gabriel Georges canceled his weekend visit to the Athens campus, per Pete Nakos of On3/Rivals. The outlet later revealed where the Baylor High of Chattanooga, Tennessee has Georgia on his list of school favorites. He’s now focused on three schools, none of them being Georgia.
The team of Nakos and Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals revealed Ole Miss, OSU and Tennessee are the top three for the back. But Georgia absorbs a new recruiting loss here.
Head coach Kirby Smart and company lost out on landing four-star edge rusher JaBarrius Garror, who chose Texas. The Bulldogs even were in the running for four-star quarterback Peter Bourque, but he choose Virginia Tech.
Georgia stacked notable recruiting wins, though, outside of the two losses. And not just limited to siphoning Dean.
Four-star quarterback Colton Nussmeier made up for the Bourque loss by choosing Georgia. Smart and the Bulldogs boosted the offensive line too by landing 340-pound option DJ Dotson, who turned down SEC rival LSU.
Georgia sits at No, 10 overall in the 247Sports recruiting rankings, but are 13th by On3/Rivals. The Bulldogs often rise as late chargers on the recruiting trail who aim to flip some notable prospects at the last minute. So Smart and Georgia likely will find a quick way to make up for Georges’ decision.
